A quickie blog! Tomorrow we’re heading to my parents for lunch. They have a pool yipeeeee…and my mum is amazing and feeds us all and entertains the kids. Such a luxury! But the heat is horrendous right now!
I cover the kids from neck to knee and pour sunscreen on what’s left bare and top the look with a hat AND THEY STILL GET BURNT! Sorry for yelling but honestly it’s unbelievable that they still get burnt with all the effort I go to. Ok, so it’s not badly. It may just be a slightly pink nose but still… There’s a few things I do like aloe vera and cool showers/baths but my big trick is Cantharis 30c. Cantharis is traditionally used in Homeopathy to reduce the discomfort of mild burns including sunburn. Usually I give them a dose before dinner and one before bed. I have found it to be beyond compare for sunburn. If I forget the Cantharis we remember the sunburn…ouch! Its history is pretty interesting to say the least and at this point I can’t help myself! It’s made from the Spanish fly which was crushed and used in its unpotentised form (ie not homeopathic) as an aphrodisiac in the 1700s. It had the ability to cause heat in the nether regions apparently. There’s lots of stories of people being poisoned by it *cue sniggering*. Homeopathically ‘what causes will cure’ so it’s no wonder that the sunburn you get on the beach looking at all those scantily clad bodies can be managed with Cantharis! It’s also noted for its urinary tract infection symptoms and able to be used in the management of other minor burns but they are blogs for another day! Just to be clear I am under no circumstances suggesting you throw caution to the wind and get burnt because you have Cantharis- prevention folks! And I am also not suggesting that it will prevent the long term sun damage that occurs when you get burnt. I'm simply saying you can use it to suport the symptoms of sunburn. Hope your day is a good one! Ciao! Disclaimer: Homeopathy is a traditional medicine. The TGA considers Homeopathy a low risk medicine. It may be used in conjunction with other medicines.
